Dancing on Clouds Hire in Surrey, Sussex & London

Add a spectacular low-lying cloud effect to your first dance with our Dancing on Clouds package.

Using a professional dry ice machine, we create a thick layer of low-lying fog that hugs the dance floor, giving you the feeling of dancing amongst the clouds.

The effect lasts throughout your first dance and is fully set up, operated and cleared away by our team.

What is Dancing on Clouds?

Dancing on Clouds is a low-lying dry ice effect that creates a thick layer of vapour across the dance floor.
Rather than rising into the room like a conventional smoke or fog effect, the vapour stays close to the floor and moves around your feet as you dance. It creates the appearance of walking or dancing on a layer of clouds, without filling the room with fog.

We use a professional dry ice machine and our team operates the effect throughout the performance, so everything is ready when you step onto the dance floor.

The effect is particularly popular for first dances, where it creates a striking backdrop for photographs and gives you something a little different for those first few minutes together.

Dancing on Clouds for your first dance

Your first dance only lasts a few minutes, so the Dancing on Clouds effect is designed to make those minutes really stand out.

We’ll have everything set up and ready before you take to the dance floor, then run the dry ice effect throughout the dance. The vapour stays low around your feet, creating the appearance that you’re dancing on a layer of clouds.

We also include uplighting around the dance floor as part of the package, helping to create the right look in the room and adding another layer to your photographs.

Once your first dance is finished, we’ll take care of the equipment and clear everything away, so you can carry on with the rest of your evening.

Beyond the first dance

Dancing on Clouds can also be used for other special moments during your event, not just the first dance.
It can work particularly well for a grand entrance, a special dance, an anniversary celebration or another moment where you want to create a bit of impact.

The dry ice is used during a set moment rather than continuously throughout the evening. Once the dry ice has been used, the effect is finished, so we’ll talk through when you’d like to use it and make sure everything is ready at the right time.

If you’re planning something a little different, let us know what you’ve got in mind and we’ll be happy to discuss what’s possible.

How it works

Once you’ve booked, we’ll arrange a suitable time with you or your venue to set everything up before the first dance.

The dry ice machine needs to be plugged in and ready for around an hour before the effect is used, so we’ll arrange access with the venue in advance and make sure everything is prepared in plenty of time. We’ll explain the setup and timings to you beforehand, so you know exactly what to expect.

Our team will also install the uplighting around the dance floor and make sure everything is ready for your first dance.

We’ll then operate the effect throughout your first dance, keeping the vapour low across the floor. Once the dance is finished, we’ll take care of the equipment and clear everything away.

Venue requirements

Dancing on Clouds is designed for indoor use, as wind and outdoor conditions can affect the low-lying effect.

The vapour stays close to the dance floor, but every venue is different and some may have their own requirements around dry ice or low-lying effects. We always recommend checking with your venue before booking.

If your venue has any questions, we’re happy to speak with their team beforehand and explain how the effect works, what equipment we’re using and what access we need.

We’ll make sure everything is discussed in advance so there are no surprises on the day.

Frequently asked questions

How far in advance does the equipment need to be set up?

The dry ice machine needs to be plugged in and ready for around an hour before the effect is used. We’ll arrange access with your venue beforehand and explain the timings to you, so everything is ready when you need it

Does Dancing on Clouds work well with a dance floor?

Yes. The effect can look particularly good with one of our LED dance floors, especially when the lights are glowing beneath the low-lying cloud effect. The combination of the dry ice and a twinkling dance floor can create a really striking look for your first dance, particularly in photographs.
If you’re already hiring a dance floor from us, we can coordinate the two as part of the same setup.

Does Dancing on Clouds work outdoors?

We recommend using Dancing on Clouds indoors. Wind and outdoor conditions can affect the low-lying effect, so an indoor space is the best option for getting the result you’re looking for.

Will the dry ice set off the venue's smoke alarms?

The effect is designed to stay low to the floor rather than filling the room, but we can’t guarantee how individual venue fire or detection systems will respond. We recommend checking with your venue before booking, and we’re happy to speak to their team if they have any questions about the equipment or setup.

Is the Dancing on Clouds effect operated by your team?

Yes. The service is fully manned by our team. We’ll set up the equipment, operate the effect throughout your first dance and take everything down afterwards, so there’s nothing for you or your venue team to manage.

Can Dancing on Clouds be used for something other than a first dance?

Yes. It can also be used for other special moments, such as a grand entrance, anniversary celebration or another dance. The effect is intended for a specific moment rather than continuous use throughout an event, so let us know what you’re planning and we’ll discuss the best way to use it.

Is uplighting included?

Yes. Uplighting around the dance floor is included in the £400 package, alongside the dry ice effect, setup, operation and breakdown.
